Lea Valley Walk
A long, waterside walk that follows the Lee Navigation towpath from Waltham Abbey to Limehouse Basin, passing through a blend of rural, industrial, and urban landscapes.

Starting Point: Waltham Abbey
Length: 15.6 miles (24.8 km)
Time: Approx. 6–7 hours

The Lea Valley Walk is a scenic stretch of the larger 50-mile (80 km) Lea Valley trail, which begins at the river’s source in Leagrave and finishes at Limehouse Basin on the Thames. This section from Waltham Abbey to Limehouse follows the Lee Navigation towpath through increasingly urban surroundings as it approaches East London.

You’ll encounter sights such as Waltham Abbey, Enfield Lock, Tottenham Marshes, Springfield Park, Bow Creek Ecology Park, and Canary Wharf. Sections 1–4 are clearly waymarked with a swan symbol; beyond that, signage is limited but improving.

Useful maps and guides are available on Go Jauntly , which divides the route into six manageable sections, including an alternative route to East India Dock.
