TAKE YOUR WORK OUTDOORS

Swap four walls for fresh air and experience your workspace a little differently on Outdoor Office Day, 11 June.

What if part of your working day happened outdoors? Outdoor Office Day on 11 June is a global invitation to swap the usual workspace for somewhere with a little more fresh air, daylight and birdsong. Whether that’s answering emails from a park bench, taking a walking meeting, eating lunch in a local green space or spending the afternoon working from a community garden, it’s a chance to rethink where work happens.

How to take part

1. Take your work outdoors
Move part of your working day outside. It could be a walking meeting, a lunchtime stroll, an hour working from a park bench or simply taking your coffee break somewhere green.

2. Make the most of London’s green spaces
Use the day as an excuse to explore somewhere new. London is full of parks, woodlands, rivers, community gardens and green spaces that can offer a different backdrop to your day.

3. Share your outdoor office
Take a photo and tag @londonnationalparkcity on Instagram or LinkedIn. We’d love to see where London is working from and share ideas from across the city.

Why Outdoor Office Day exists

First launched in the Netherlands in 2019 by Nature Desks as a simple experiment in healthier, more nature-connected ways of working, Outdoor Office Day has since grown into an international movement. Every year, people, organisations, universities, community groups and businesses are encouraged to take their work outdoors and explore the connection between wellbeing, movement, urban nature and everyday working life.

The idea is straightforward: nature doesn’t have to be somewhere we visit only at weekends or on holiday. It can be part of everyday life too.

Looking for inspiration? You could:

  • Hold your next meeting on a walk
  • Swap your lunch break for a riverside stroll
  • Organise a team catch-up in a green space
  • Explore a community garden near your workplace
  • Set up a desk outdoors for the afternoon

Even ten minutes outside can completely change the rhythm of the day.

Why it matters in London

As London National Park City, the day feels especially relevant. London is home to thousands of parks, woodlands, rivers, community gardens, squares and green spaces, many of them only a short walk from where we live and work.

Outdoor Office Day is an opportunity to make more use of them. It is a reminder that nature is not separate from city life, but part of it. The more we bring everyday activities into our public green spaces, the more connected we become to the places around us and the more we recognise their value.

Spending time outdoors can help us feel more refreshed, creative and connected, while encouraging us to make the most of the green spaces that make London such a remarkable city.
