This project proposes the creation of a series of illustrated blueprints showcasing innovative ways to transform underutilized urban spaces in London into thriving habitats for other species.
These leftover spaces will include:
1. a parking space, an overgrown back garden
2. the roof of a flat-roofed building
The blueprints will include realisable DIY projects like wildlife ponds and mini-meadows, alongside more imaginative concepts such as backyard Miyawaki forests and urban beekeeping. These will draw on real-world examples of regenerative creativity already demonstrated in London, from DIY rewilders to wildlife gardeners to community gardens. These will be made available open-source for community engagement and educational purposes, encouraging Londoners to reimagine their urban spaces and contribute to a more sustainable and biodiverse city.
They will be designed so that they could be used for Park City creative projects, such as free papers or produced as posters, handouts etc.
