“With the support of this grant, we installed three simple, flexible outdoor shelters at schools where we run outdoor learning and urban forest school sessions. These shelters allow children to continue learning outdoors in all weather – giving them the chance to continue outdoor learning throughout the seasons and foster nature connection and early environmental stewardship.

Built with the help of corporate volunteers and a carpenter, the shelters are made from wooden posts secured in soil with tarpaulins that can be quickly set up or taken down, making them a low-cost, versatile resource. The schools are delighted to have them, and they are already enhancing children’s outdoor experiences, supporting wellbeing, curiosity, and connection to nature throughout the autumn and winter months.”
