The project aimed to share and teach the ancient practice of hot-bed growing.
Through a series of free workshops, the organisers taught food-growers and gardeners in London how to use freely available organic matter to create compost-powered heat to increase harvests and grow hot climate vegetables. This simple method, which involved building a massive compost pile and then topping it off with soil and planting crops on top immediately, enabled participants to grow food all year round.
The workshop was held on Saturday, March 28th, 2026 from 11 am to 2 pm. The organizers hoped to fundraise to continue their hot composting and hot bed growing education, build hot beds at other community gardens, and create educational literature and videos on the method.
