Soil erosion and land degradation continue to be a major environmental concern, threatening global food security. In fact, figures from the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) have shown that worldwide an estimated 1.5 billion hectares of productive land have now been lost.

Honing in on London The Ecosystem Regeneration Manuals are an encyclopaedic collection of all the tools needed to transform degraded environments into nature-rich ecosystems. In 2023, our funding helped to amplify messaging contained in these open-source guides via a number of creative projects. These included: two blow-up illustrations that detail how to adapt a typical London terrace house and garden to provide living habitats and microrefugia – ‘sites that support locally favourable climates amidst unfavourable regional climates (Harvard University)’ – and the production of a shareable visual aid for reimagining London’s streets and neighbourhood as greener places to live.
