The Forest Farm Peace Garden in Hainault provides twice weekly horticultural therapy activities for adults experiencing stress, isolation, disabilities and mental health difficulties.
Many of our participants are also experiencing racial- financial- or educational- inequity, or old age, and are from underrepresented groups within environmental initiatives, and struggle to access other healthcare options. We also run weekly volunteer sessions for local residents to look after the site. Our site is based on permaculture principles and our mission is to support biodiversity as well as people.
We are proposing to build storage of our tools and equipment in the garden.
Funding of around £900 will cover a new safe and secure shed, some new timber and ironmongery to build shelving and hooks inside. We will also use some recycled materials which we do whenever possible.
The project will be delivered over the winter months, with staff and volunteers working together to ensure the space continues to thrive as part of our wider commitment to making the garden a welcoming, inclusive, and therapeutic environment for all.
