The University of East London (UEL) Community Garden is located between two student residences in the Docklands and consists of eight outdoor beds as well as a polytunnel where a variety of vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs are grown by garden volunteers.

In 2023, our funding supported aesthetic and functional improvements to the garden, making it even more enjoyable and more easily navigable for residents, students and visitors. In practice, this involved the purchase of hanging baskets – as well as seeds and plants to populate them -, as well as sensory planting. Additionally, two outdoor community notice boards and 10 items of signage were installed in the garden. In all, 50 UEL students and 20 children between the ages of 2 and 6 were engaged in the project.
