Originally a student project, the garden had lain dormant for a few years before it was brought back to life.

Located between Redbridge and Marley student residences, the garden consists of eight outdoor beds as well as a polytunnel where garden volunteers grow their own vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs. Garden sessions are held year-round on Tuesdays at noon, and anyone from UEL is welcome to get involved.

The aim of the garden is to promote locally-grown, organic produce which reduces plastic waste generated from buying packaged food from the shops. We also want to encourage UEL staff and students from all different departments to meet and share in the fun and relaxation of working in a garden!

Park Village Oasis is a plot of land that has been selected to be part of a project called ‘Breaking Ground’, which offers communities funding and support to design, create and run a project that solves local issues and improves the local environment. At this stage it is vital to gather the views of as many local people as possible, to understand the community’s priorities, and to find out who would like to help to develop this space from a dream into reality.

Every Incredible Edible group is different, and everyone has their own take, but out of all we have learned we value. Today we are a federation of independent groups world wide. There is one recipe – the three plates – but everywhere the recipe is tried, it comes out with a distinctly local flavour. We celebrate this diversity and embrace this difference.

Hammersmith Community Gardens Association (HCGA) is a local environmental charity set up in 1984. We manage four community gardens in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. HCGA has a range of projects which include conservation training schemes, volunteer gardening sessions, health and wellbeing projects, environmental playschemes and environmental education in local schools. We assist local groups in the design, plan and management of their green spaces. We promote environmental sustainability within the borough and manage our sites to maximise biodiversity and encourage wildlife.
HCGA has a team of school gardeners who deliver environmental education sessions in schools on a weekly basis in three boroughs. These include formal curriculum-linked activities as well as lunchtime and after school clubs. We can also guide groups on how to make their premises more environmentally friendly and give technical growing advice.
