The London 100 Challenge: Walk 100 Miles This May with Go Jauntly

London is one of the world’s great walking cities. This May, the London 100 Challenge is setting out to prove it.

Delivered by Go Jauntly in partnership with London National Park City, the London 100 Challenge invites you to walk 100 miles throughout May, joining thousands of Londoners working towards a collective target of one million miles walked across the capital as part of the London Walking Festival.

Whether you cover it in daily strolls, weekend adventures or lunchtime loops, every step you take goes towards that shared goal. The challenge is free to join, inclusive and flexible, celebrating every mile regardless of whether you reach the full 100. You can sign up now and start walking from 1st May.

What is Go Jauntly?

Go Jauntly is a free, community-based walking app that invites everyone into a world of daily outdoor adventures. Through the app, you can find local walks created by people who know and love them, discover the greenest walking routes from A to B, or sign up to fun and free walking challenges to help motivate you to walk more.

The app is available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play Store.

How the Challenge Works

The London 100 Challenge runs throughout May 2026. Once you have downloaded the Go Jauntly app, you can sign up to the challenge for free. From there, the app tracks your progress towards the 100-mile target, supporting you along the way with milestone badges, daily encouragement and curated Walk London routes.

The challenge tracks both individual and collective progress, so you can see how your miles contribute to London’s one-million-mile goal. Pre and post surveys will also measure behaviour change alongside in-app activity data, helping to build a picture of how walking challenges can make a lasting difference.

There is no pressure to hit the full 100 miles. This is about getting outside, exploring your neighbourhood and being part of something bigger.

A Note for Android Users: Setting Up Health Connect

If you are using an Android device, you will want to connect the Go Jauntly app with Health Connect to make sure your miles are tracked accurately.

Health Connect acts as a bridge between Go Jauntly and your existing activity tracker, whether that is Google Fit, Fitbit, Samsung Health or another compatible app. It does not track activity itself but pulls in the data from whichever service you already use.

Here is how to get set up:

  1. Make sure Health Connect is installed on your device. If you are running Android 14 or later, it will already be there. Earlier versions of Android may need to install it from the Play Store.
  2. Check that your chosen activity tracking app (Google Fit, Fitbit, etc.) is set to share data with Health Connect.
  3. When you join a challenge in Go Jauntly, the app will prompt you to grant permissions. Allow access for Distance and Steps to cover most challenges.
  4. You will also be asked about past data (useful if you join mid-challenge) and background data (so the app can update your progress without you needing to open it each time).

Create Your Own Walking Routes

One of Go Jauntly’s best features is the ability to create and share your own walks. If you have a favourite route through your local park, along a canal towpath, or through a neighbourhood you love, you can turn it into a step-by-step guide for others to follow.

The process is straightforward. Take photos along your route with location services switched on, then open the app and tap the + icon to start building your walk. Select your images in order, add descriptions and navigation tips to each step, then create a cover page with a title and route description. Preview it, publish it, and your walk is live for the community to discover.

You can always edit or delete your walks later, and you can share them directly with friends. It is a brilliant way to contribute to the community and help others explore parts of London they might never have found on their own.
