In the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea we deliver education in schools and short courses for adults as part of their Adult Education Services. These have included: How to Garden, Thyme to Get Together: Herbal Activities, Sunflower Art and a programme of walks: ‘Discovering the Green City’.

We also work in partnership with ACAVA to deliver green activities in their community garden.

Now in its third year, Cultivate Create is a creative growing project for North Kensington families with a focus on wellbeing and emotional resilience. It provides a safe, non-judgmental space for families in which to be creative and connect to nature at ACAVA’s Maxilla Walk Studios and secret garden.

Families meet twice a month and work with community gardener Maria Cabrera to learn about ecosystems and biodiversity, how to grow from seed to harvest, and play freely in the adjacent forest school. ACAVA often receive visits from other local growing associations, share and cook their produce in nearby community kitchens, and take trips to other creative and growing spaces nearby.
Is your family from North Kensington and would like to join ACAVA’s programme?
