About This Event

This London Climate Action Week, join an eye-opening walk exploring how wild living soils support biodiverse and climate resilient parks.

Soil is the world’s most biodiverse habitat but the least explored.

Join Gemma Hindi from the Help Nature Thrive team to discover the importance of these underground communities in supporting biodiverse and climate-resilient parks.

Unearth the secrets of living soil, through the ecology of wild plants and fungi. Learn fascinating facts about species you walk past every day.

We share related research commissioned by Help Nature Thrive and the Biodiversity team which sheds light on some of the main challenges facing our parks today.

These free guided walks, part of London Climate Action Week, offer visitors an insight into a hidden world right beneath our feet.

The Royal Parks declared a climate emergency in 2020. With 5000 acres of greenspace in London, supporting these important habitats amidst biodiversity decline and climate collapse is one of our biggest challenges.

‘Resilient Roots: Soil & Climate’ breaks down the complex world of living soil into its component parts to better understand the importance of wild species and wild spaces, and to share the incredible work by our teams in creating climate-resilient parks for future generations.

This event is aimed at adults who are interested in learning more about ecology and climate resilience. It is suitable for absolute beginners to those who already have some knowledge in these areas.
