About This Event

Join us for a fascinating new walk linking two of the city’s greatest cultural landmarks — from the long-established world-famous British Museum to the exciting new London Museum at historic Smithfield Market, which is expected to open later this year.

This specially designed route by Footways in collaboration with the Central District Alliance reveals the hidden history, remarkable architecture and evolving streetscapes of central London. Along the way, discover elegant Georgian squares, historic alleys, striking modern buildings and the stories of the people who shaped this part of the city. The walk takes you along transformed streets such as Red Lion Street and Lamb’s Conduit Street, where recent pedestrian improvements are creating a greener, more welcoming London. You’ll also hear about ambitious future plans for the area — including proposals to pedestrianise the street outside the British Museum and the transformation of Smithfield — helping create an inspiring corridor between two extraordinary museums.
